Like most kids in the 90s I had a fanny pack. When this bag started popping up on celebrities a couple of years ago I was sure it was just a passing trend. But of course it is still here and I can’t really say if it will stay or go. Honestly, I really like the functionality of the bag. It keeps your hand free to do whatever and unlike a crossbody you don’t have to adjust it.
I love the look of having it slung over the chest instead of the traditional way of wearing one. I’m still nervous about the longevity of the trend so I’m interested in dropping a ton of money on one. So of course I found some really inexpensive ones, I even found a designer one that’s not too much if you want some designer in your bag collection.
What are your thoughts on the fanny pack trend? Will you be trying it?
There’s something about a straw bag that let’s everyone around you know that you are the fun laid back type of person. They’re effortless yet stylish and have somehow ended up on the chic runways during the fashion weeks.
It has finally warmed up and Spring is definitely here with Summer right around the corner. Now I’m piecing together outfits for future shoots. What I have noticed missing from my bag collection is a versatile straw bag.
You can wear it with a floral summer dress or a simple t-shirt and jeans.
I found some bags on the internet that are affordable and stylish.
This is the recent blogger favorite the Cult Gaia bamboo clutch bag. Okay, so this bag has been a hit among Instagram models and fashion bloggers. Made by an indie brand this bag is a big hit even for the most elite fashion crowds. It’s the more expensive bag on the list but it’s definitely making a name for itself by becoming a classic addition to your bag collection.
This is definitely a classic silhouette. The great thing about this bag is that it can go from the beach to a date night on a hot summer night. This bag is from one of my favorite places: Gap.
I’m not going to lie, I still want this bag. I originally found it on Amazon when I was searching for a bag for my upcoming vacation. I have since opted for my laser cut Summer Rose crossbody. I like this bag because it’s a backpack so it’s great for festival season.
I hate to admit it but I’m that person that follows the royal weddings even though I’m American. But to my defense, the royal wedding coming up is kind of a big deal because Prince Harry is marrying the gorgeous American actress Meghan Markle. I’ll be honest I’ve never watched an episode of Suits in my life but I’m sure Meghan is great on it. I will say that I love her style. It’s clean, chic, and minimal.
Before the Royal wedding on May 19th ( my 26th birthday by the way) I wanted to give you all a guide on how to get her style. So I chose some pieces that you all could buy to recreate one of her looks from the royal tour her and Prince Harry have been on. This particular look is from their stop in Northern Ireland. I love this outfit for two reasons. The first reason is that there’s not a lot going on but it looks well put together. The second reason is that the green from her skirt really makes this pop. This would be a great outfit for spring. If it was actually Spring here in Ohio.
I’ll keep this post short and sweet and of course, I’ll include links to all of the items. ENJOY!
I’m super excited to share with something! I’m currently going through the process of getting my natural curls back. I’ve had relaxed hair for awhile but now I am ready to have my natural curls back. Lately I’ve been wearing a lot of protective hairstyles. My favorite so far are crochet braids.
That’s why I’m super excited to tell you all about Black Hairspray. Particularly their crochet braids hair. Black Hairspray is an online beauty store that sells thousands of hair products and even wigs! What I love most about this website is that you don’t have to be a professional to know what you’re getting.
I’m in love with the crochet style because it protects my hair and honestly it just looks cute! I love the curly styles but you can get anything because so much is offered.
I would definitely check out Black Hairspray if you are looking for affordable hair products. With going natural it’s really important to be gentle to your new growth. Wearing protective hairstyles is a key to this if you don’t plan on doing the “big chop”. I definitely want to share this journey with you all. So if you are interested please let me know and I will start documenting it. I’m obviously no expert on natural hair so I have tons of questions. It would be great for us to be able to support each other.
I hope you all check out this amazing website. I’ll be posting again soon!
It took me awhile to really appreciate jewelry. Now I love small meaningful pieces. You all probably know that I used to live in Pittsburgh for a few years. I love that city and I love learning about local businesses there. I recently learned about Greenfield Jewelers, a family owned jewelry shop located in Pittsburgh. Even though I don’t live in Pittsburgh anymore I really wanted to do a spotlight on this incredible family business.

How gorgeous is this necklace. Valentine’s day is a week away and I’m sure your significant other would love this as a special gift.

I’m kind of obsessed with these earrings. I have no idea where I would ever wear them but they so glamour and well made. These would also be great as a Valentine’s day gift.

Okay, I kind of lied. I’m actually completely obsessed with this ring. It’s gorgeous, right? It’s so shiny and pretty. This would be the perfect engagement ring for anyone thinking about popping the big question.

This ring is so wonderful! It would make a great gift.
I love how incredibly made these pieces are and on a future trip to Pittsburgh I’ll definitely be stopping by. If you would like to stop by you can visit Greenfield Jewelers at
I love this time of year. I know you’re probably shocked because I’m normally talking about how much I enjoy Halloween. I love Halloween but Christmas comes in a close second for a favorite holiday. I love the cheesy Christmas music, the cozy sweaters, and of course the time you get to spend with family. I also love giving gifts. To be honest when my family and I lived in the domestic violence shelter this year I didn’t expect us to have a Christmas this year. But things worked out and we’ll be spending Christmas together in our own home with a Christmas tree and stockings. I’m still in Illinois at Ragdale for my writer’s residency so I won’t be able to help decorate but I know my mom and sister will do a great job.
I wanted to put together a list of items that I would like to receive and I’m sure you all would also. I’ll just include a few items in this post but you can view the full list here. Also, everything is from Amazon!
You’re not really an adult until you enjoy getting socks as gifts. I feel like I always need more socks. I swear they just disappear. Plus they’re so great to have to keep your feet cozy during this time of the year.
I’m always drinking a ton of water back at home but once I travel I seem to forget how much I should be really drinking. For one thing, I always get dehydrated on flights and this could easily be avoided if I would drink as much water as I do at home. I love these reusable bottles they are super environmentally friendly and so easy to clean.
There’s nothing I love more than a nice bag. I’m in love with handbags. I actually really need a new one so I’ve been searching for a nice everyday one. This is awesome because it has three compartments. As much as I try to be organized I always end up tossing everything into my bag. I also love this taupe color.
I can definitely do more of these holiday gift guides if you want, just let me know down in the comments!
It’s so important to support women owned brands and businesses. I have another amazing subscription box to review for you. It’s the Woman Up Box and every product in the box is created by women. Awesome, right? The box I received was the June box because they still had some extras. I’m not sure if they still do but don’t let that discourage you from subscribing to them to get a box because once I go into detail about everything you’ll want one so bad.
This tea is so good (of course it was the first product I tried). It’s light and refreshing and great as an iced tea.
I’ve never used a sugar scrub but this is so cool. It really made my skin softer and the smell isn’t overly sweet.
I’m saving these color-yourself-cards for something special. But how cute are the mini pencils?
It has a great tit and an even better scent. I’m in love. I also get to add another lip balm to my lip balm collection.
There’s nothing like having a quirky little pocket mirror to give you a boost of confidence. It even comes with a protector so the crumbs at the bottom of my purse won’t ruin it.
If you’re a fan of sweets then these treats are definitely meant for you. They’re a nice sweet for those moments when you’re feeling nostalgic.
This perfect little stone is a worry stone. There’s a part in it meant for you to rub when you’re worried or anxious. I’ll be rubbing this a lot.
I’m in love this necklace. They’re actually Mala beads or prayer beads. I’ve done a little of research and they’re meant to keep you grounded, which we all need more of.
I hope you give Woman Up Box a chance. They’re a great company and their mission is incredible.
*I was sent this box to review. All opions are my own.
I was super excited to be able to try out the new Maybelline 24K Nudes Palette. It’s my new favorite palette for reasons you may be surprised about.
Maybelline and Influenster were also cool enough to send out mascara and eyeliner. The eyeliner is an amethyst purple and as much as I love purple I’m not into bright eyeliner. The mascara is the Falsies Push Up Angel. I love this mascara and I’m debating about doing a separate review on it. If you would like that, let me know down in the comments.
But onto the eyeshadow, I’m actually more impressed with the non-metallic shades. They are more pigmented and opaque. The metallics (excluding that gold, which is amazing) are so light that even building them up takes time to get a semi-opaque look. The first shadow which is a rose gold on the top row does make a great highlight.
Overall, the palette is okay. I can definitely do without some of the colors. What’s your favorite color in the palette?
*I was sent this to review, all opinions are my own.
There’s no secret that I suffer from bladder incontinence. Because of this, I have to take precautions to ensure I don’t have a leak. Icon was kind enough to send me some of their underwear to try out.
These aren’t your typical underwear. These have a cool lining that catches the leaks you have throughout the day. The underwear leaves you dry and odorless. I love them and decided to do my review on my YouTube channel. It would mean a lot to me if you subscribed HERE. Also, let me know what videos you would like to see in the future.
Maybelline sent me their new Dream Cushion foundation to try. I’ve been in need of a new foundation for awhile now.
You guys know that I don’t really wear makeup often but when I come across a really good foundation l love adding it to my routine.
For me I need a light formula that still leaves my face a nice poreless canvas. This foundation definitely does the job. I don’t like foundations that leaves my skin cakey or dry. This doesn’t cause those issues, instead it’s so light that I don’t even feel it throughout the day.
So let’s get into why this foundation is different than the rest. The foundation is in a saturated sponge that you use with a makeup sponge to press into it. This gives you the right amount of coverage.
I’m in the shade caramel and it matches me perfectly. That’s also a concern I have with foundation, I can never seem to find a correct shade. But if you want to try this foundation and have a similar skin tone to me try the shade caramel.
Overall I really like this foundation. It’s definitely going to be a part of my low maintenance makeup routine.
Thank you Maybelline and Influenster for allowing me to try the #DreamCushion foundation.
