Today is Kurt Cobain’s birthday, earlier today someone asked me asked me what music I listen to and I said”I’ve been listening to a lot of Nirvana lately, more than usual.” This is true,Nirvana is a band that never leaves my music taste. I can remember being four years old and hearing a Nirvana song. Everyone has albums that change their life, and some way. So here are my top ten albums that changed my life.
10 The Pretty Reckless-Light Me Up I was living on my own for the first time, and owned too much black eyeliner. I was a rebel. ‘You’ is my favorite song.
9 Shakira-Laundry Service I was nine, and had just started writing. Hearing this album made me want to write songs like Shakira. Underneath Your Clothes is still one of my favorite songs.
8 Miley Cyrus-Bangerz I enjoy this album surprisingly. I’m at a point in my life, where I feel comfortable being who I am,Adore You is my favorite song.
7 The Jimi Hendrix Experience I love this man,it’s amazing the impact he had in such a short career. I just want to be an individual because of this album. Who else loves Foxy Lady?
6 Fiona Apple-The Idler Wheel Fiona is a poet, this is her newer album. This made me want to remember to love being a writer.
5 Jay-Z-The Blueprint This album made me feel like Jay-Z was an actual artist. Some people rap about materialistic things, but this album had substance.
4 Nirvana-Nevermind My first Nirvana album! Yes,I skipped Bleach, but this album made me feel like the coolest kid in school. I feel in love with Kurt’s words.
3 WZRD Kid Cudi, and Dot Da Genius made an absolutely amazing album. I know the reviews for this album, were not that great, but this album was a risk. In my opinion a risk worth taking. Their cover of Where Did You Sleep Last Night would make Lead Belly proud.
2 Nirvana-In Utero This album brought me out of a very dark place, and inspired me to write my first novel. It’s funny because I grew up listening to this album. But when I really needed to get out of the darkest hole, everything sounded different.
1 Fiona Apple-Tidal When I heard this album, then read the lyrics. I knew I wanted to be a writer. I loved the way Fiona played with words, she inspired me to be a writer.
I hope you liked my list! These are my personal favorites of course, there are many more!
I do not own the images.
